I recently stocked up on some of these handy battery converters for using AAA batteries in place of AA batteries. They will be great for torches, radios, etc when I only have AAA batteries to hand.
I probably went overboard by ordering 6 packs giving me 24 of them but they are cheap and useful thing to have (or should that be hoard?). You can never have enough batteries!
A note about safe storage of batteries
Storing batteries at room temperature or below will maximise their shelf life and their service life. It is also important that batteries are not allowed to conduct any electricity whilst in storage as this will not only drain the batteries, it can cause a short circuit and then heat or even fire. To avoid this:
- Store batteries in asealed plastic container or a specialized battery storage box, never in a metal container.
- Make sure that no other metal items, including coins are stored with batteries, even in your pocket.
- Ensure that batteries are aligned so that the positive terminals cannot come into contact with the negative terminals of any other batteries. If this is unavoidable then cover the terminals with an insulating tape or plastic cap.
